What a great experience!
Managed to snag a last minute booking on a Friday night. And what a great place!
The tasting menu was full of local ingredients, tastefully done with an Italian spin on it.
We literally licked our plates clean!
There were at least 10 courses, each better than the last.
Favourite was the gazpacho and the venison.
The service was attentive but not too attentive, wine list was extensive and had something for everyone.
Definitely one of the best meals I’ve ever had, and definitely recommend!
There were certainly some nice aspects to our experience at Fico. However, I would not recommend this restaurant for vegetarians/vegans and others with intolerances or allergies as they do not hit the mark on replacements.
The service was quite appalling. If you like having your dish slammed on the table for every meal, this is the restaurant for you.
Overall it was OK. I wished to indulge in a highly regarded Tasmanian restaurant but was left quite disappointed.
I will tell anyone who will listen to go to Fico when in Hobart. The staff were wonderful and the food just got better as the courses progressed. Do yourself a favour and get the Campari yuzu and rhubarb sour, before trying some of the delicious wines on their list. The venison and the goats cheese Panna Cotta were my highlights, as well as the buffalo milk gelato with whey caramel and malt crisp that I'd buy by the box.
Loved our dinner at Fico. Food was everything we’d hoped for. Wine list was excellent. It was the space that elevated it all though: a great mix of (non intrusive) communal, bar and traditional tables. Awesome.
Wow. This place. One of the best degustation menus I’ve ever experienced- and I’ve eaten in many Michelin star restaurants. What makes this so good is the pacing of dishes and the curation. You leave completely satiated but not full to the brim and feeling like you need to lie down. Every single dish was spectacular. I also opted in for the local truffles - and was advised to have on the duck risotto. Wow. A party in my mouth. The wine suggestions were also outstanding. And the service. So down to earth and authentic - and exceptional. I could not fault this experience and will be dreaming of my return. Thank you so much team Fico!!!!!
Just great! Deserves the reputation. Great service and great food. Also has an interesting wine list that'll have something for everyone. Not a cheap night out but well worth it for a special occasion. We'll be back again at some stage. Highly recommend!
We've been back again in December 2023. It was even better than our first time
Came to Hobart for Fico and Mona, the service here is by far the stand out from my experience dining. All the courses were prompt and they had even adjusted the dessert to accomodate the cheese florets. The Panna Cotta and the Venison are something I could eat everyday for the rest of my life. I was slightly disappointed by the Pasta itself but everything else was incredible. Highly recommend trying to secure a table at Fico when you're in Hobart.
Be very careful - food is good but I can’t be complimentary as I felt like a leper - don’t try to change a reservation without a massive penalty ($150 per person without any question!). Restaurants universally should drop the credit card surcharge when booking - it’s a COVID penalty and I am in the F&B business - it’s not fair! I had two guests who contracted conjunctivitis and was told by the venue that I had to pay the $150 per head and sucked in. I asked if we could take away some dishes and no - not long after we observed patrons leaving with take away dishes. The hypocrisy really irked me. I dined there only a few days ago and it’s taken me this long to be somewhat balanced about how badly we were treated.
